A lot of shooters and hunters treat cartridges and rifles like they are sports teams they are supposed to root for and be fans of...cartridges and rifles have NO feelings.

There are hundreds of different beers in the world for the same reason we have so many cartridges. Interestingly, while visiting Douglas Barrels last week they told me that recently the 6.5x55 has been one of their most popular chamberings.

I do not have a 30-06 phobia - I'm not afraid of it - I don't like it, which is why I write about it the way I do. And, I have a good reason...did you read my book?

Handloading can teach you a lot but many are apprehensive about it and a lot of others just don't have the time.

I like it Richard! Perhaps because my grandfather, back in the late 1940's or early 1950's had Weatherby convert his 257 Roberts, on a Mauser 98 action, to their screaming new 257 Weatherby Magnum. My family has had 25 cal rifles for a long time. I got a 25-06 and use the heck out of it. Grandpa's old 257 Wby is sitting in the safe waiting for some love - and my 25-06 barrel is getting tired. Perhaps it's time to re-barrel to this new 25 cal Weatherby cartridge. Why not?

Oh Richard, I just feel so bad whenever I hear of someone suffering from phobic issues. My wife of 47 years has always been agoraphobic and it has really put a damper on her traveling to places I love because she feels compelled to hide on the floor of the truck.

All of this to say, you are welcome to PM me and I’ll hook you up with a counselor that can help you with your phobia of God’s greatest gift to Hoplites worldwide, the mighty ‘06😉

Thank you!! I can’t put it into words the best sometime(s) and maybe shouldn’t say anything at all but, between this post and Adam Weatherby’s on social media that I shared last night; I can’t say it any better! I will never understand downing a cartridge, company, firearm, person etc. in the end it’s all about options and what someone likes to enjoy, do, and bring others into the sport, hunting, and recreation. What’s so incorrect about that, just have fun and not criticize everyone and everything else because you can. I personally think it is just another great option out there for whomever my choose to have one, and I respect Weatherby for bringing it and the rifles it will be chambered in out! A company I have always admired through the years.

I like rule #5. It applies to so many things in life. Imagine what a world we would have if even the lowly politicians could grasp that concept.

As to cartridges, I like them all, and would gladly hunt the appropriate game with one of these new offerings given the opportunity. Besides, I think too many folks get all wrapped up around the axle of the Bakki worrying about cartridges, when they should be concentrating on spotting that game animal, and figuring out how they are going to get to a realistic distance so they can actually use their chosen rifle to make a good hit.

As to hunters who reload, I am one of those, for me it is part of the whole package. It obviously isn’t for everyone, and it’s nice to know that ammunition is available for those who prefer factory ammunition.

I sure do agree. It works both ways, all ways - I have really been enjoying my latest foray into the 22 Hornet and 257 Roberts, the latter of which I ordered brass for and Midway sent me a box of 22 Nosler. I didn't even know there was a 22 Nosler. I expect that's a fine cartridge, as are the Hornet and the 257 Roberts ... and now I want a 6.5x55 Swedish. In other words, I am hidebound but not neophobic and the folks that like the new stuff scoff at me. I am working my way through your new book and will pause and study on the 30-06 to see why the angst.
