I was feeling a bit lazy this morning, partly because it has been a long week, and I still have a lot of work to do before Monday. On last Monday and Tuesday, I drove halfway across West Virginia to watch my daughter play in the invitational state championship girls’ golf match. That evening she played a practice round and did not do very well, but on Tuesday she shot her best golf round ever during competition, and tied for sixth place in the open division. We got home late, but it was a proud drive home.
I did get a bit of work done on Wednesday, but the day was mostly spent paying bills and managing administrative tasks, one of which was preparing for Africa 2025. I’ll provide more information on Africa and the safari opportunities in 2025 soon, in case some of you Premium Subscribes might be interested in joining me there next year.
Thursday resulted in an unplanned pleasantly. My son recently joined the Drug Free All-Stars basketball team for their final year. Their first two games were at the middle school and high school he graduated from. It was really cool to see him once again run the courts and slam the ball where he had played as a kid. It was also neat to see him interact with some of his old teachers.
I guess you could say I was more daddy than gun writer this week. But back to my morning and what I woke up to. There was this post on Facebook from the Gunsite Alumni Group about an blog post titled, “The Problem with the External Safety on a Pistol.” Of course, I found this intriguing, so I clicked the link and read, what I initially thought was satire, but then realized it was written in seriousness. The author’s name was omitted, so I do not know who wrote this, but as you might imagine I disagreed. So, keep reading and “daddy” will now give you his take on the matter.
